3M™ VHB™ Tape 4918F is an 8.0 mil thick clear, general purpose acrylic adhesive tape with a polyethylene (PE) film liner. 3M™ VHB™ Tape eliminates the need for rivets, bolts, screws and welds. It is ideal for bonding high surface energy substrates. 3M™ VHB™ Tape is comprised of closed-cell foam with pressure sensitive adhesive on two sides. This unique combination offers benefits that screws, rivets, welds and other types of mechanical fasteners just can’t match. In many situations, they can replace other permanent fasteners. They are made with acrylic foam which is viscoelastic in nature. This gives the foam energy absorbing and stress relaxing properties which helps provide these tapes with their unique characteristics. The acrylic chemistry helps provide outstanding durability performance. It is colourless making it ideal for bonding transparent materials or for applications where a coloured bond line is not ideal. 3M™ VHB™ Tape 4918F has a somewhat lower peel, tensile and shear performance than most other 3M™ VHB™ Tapes due to its inherent softness.
